Food Assistance Program benefits
Food Assistance Information
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has posted the following message on the MDHHS website: “Per the USDA Food and Nutrition Service, due to the federal government shutdown, there may be a delay in issuing November 2025 Food Assistance Program benefits.”
For your families that may need assistance with food, direct them to the following resources:
- The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) interactive map, Where can I get TEFAP?
- Find Help - Michigan 2-1-1 for other local resources available.
What else can you do?
- Promote your School Nutrition Programs to your students.
- Consider increasing opportunities for Breakfast after the Bell and Second Chance Breakfast in your schools.
- Add Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) At-risk After-school Suppers or snacks if your school is eligible. Contact your CACFP analyst or MDE-CACFP@Michigan.gov for more information.
Your school nutrition programs are always critical to student success. Contact MDE-FM-FD@Michigan.gov or MDE-SchoolNutrition@Michigan.gov.
