Phalen Leadership Academies Wins $2.7 Million Grant from CSP Quality Counts
Indianapolis, IN - Phalen Leadership Academies has been awarded a $2.7 million Charter School Program Quality Counts Grant to support academic achievement, college and career readiness programming, and strengthen the overall quality of life for PLA scholars in Indiana.
“This CSP Quality Counts grant award will be a transformative resource for our scholars, as we intentionally invest funds to support more positive student outcomes,” said PLA Founder & CEO, Earl Martin Phalen. “The educational programs made possible through this grant will help provide personalized blended learning to our scholars and meet each scholar’s unique learning needs. The grant will also empower our educators to provide data-driven classroom instruction using real-time insights from our student data warehouse and the PLA Coaching Cycle.”
The CSP Quality Counts grant is exceptionally competitive and is only awarded to the highest quality, new charter schools in the state. PLA was the only recipient of multiple grant awards this year. Not only did PLA schools receive the maximum grant award, but they were also the highest-rated CSP applications in the state, receiving perfect or near-perfect scores in the official review process.
Along with supporting academic achievement, the CSP grant will facilitate overall scholar success; providing crucial social-emotional support, helping our scholars develop 21st Century skills while promoting perseverance, teamwork, a growth mindset, and digital literacy.
PLA currently serves K-12 scholars in nine schools across Indiana, as well as over 10,000 scholars in 22 schools across the country. James and Rosemary Phalen Leadership Academy, PLA@Louis B Russell Jr School #48, and Phalen Virtual Leadership Academy all received a CSP Quality Counts grant.
